Ray Dooley’s parents gave him a swingball set for Christmas in 1979, he only got two oul months play out it before Maureen Folan confiscated it from him and left it to “fade to fecking skitter” on a window sill for ten years.
A conceptual strobist promo shot taken on the Watergate stage, Ray Dooley’s beloved swingball sits on the Beauty Queen script. I’m actually holding my SB800 flash at the back of the auditorium in the Watergate, triggering the flash and camera by remote. You can see all my shots from behind the scenes on ‘The Beauty Queen Of Leenane’ here and you can read all about the production here on the Oss237.com Blog.
