ChemAd-Promo1.jpg
The first of many promo shots of Chemical Addiction, in the run up to the release of their debut offering ‘The Brian Jones E.P‘.

This was a fairly quick shoot to give the lads some promo shots for press-packs etc, but we’ll be working on more shots and the E.P cover over the coming weeks. Check out the awesome title track off the E.P, ‘Brian Jones’ here.

A short story.jpg
Playing around with natural lighting, I’m trying out different styles for several upcoming shoots. I’m looking forward to staying behind the lens.

Paul from 23 rocking out in the Zoo Club. I’ve been testing out new techniques to compensate for badly lit venues in Kilkenny, trying to black out backgrounds for a live/promo style.

You can read more about this photo-shoot and MY IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO LOCAL MEDIA here on the new Oss237.com Blog. You can check out the full series of shots here and read more about the gig here on my KilkennyMusic Staff Blog.

One More Medicated Peaceful Moment.jpg
Another new one for the series, again manipulating the colour and saturation levels. The title is a lyric from A Perfect Circle’s song ‘Orestes‘ and I think it adds to what I was going for. Again I’d love to hear what people think about these shots.

I’m also delighted to announce that I’ve been nominated for ‘Best Photo Blog’ in the Irish Blog Awards 2008. We’ve also been nominated several times over at KilkennyMusic.com. You can read more about the nomination here on my KKM Staff Blog, which was also nominated for ‘Best Blog Post’.

Untitled 51.jpg
Finally, back to my fascination with eyes. It’s been way too long but I’ve finally begun what will hopefully become a large series. Along time since my first attempt but I’m back with better equipment, better company and I think I have a better understanding of what I’m doing.

So here’s the first of a new batch, once again working with Tanya O’Callaghan. Getting to grips with using different layers and saturation levels to experiment with the colours and tones. I’ll be posting more shots and tests here as we go along. Feedback, criticism, comments, thoughts or anything would be greatly appreciated.

Tanya-Tattoo-41.jpg
Another shot from my series of alternative body art portraits, working with the very beautiful Tanya O’Callaghan. Simple use of selective desaturation to bring out the red in the tattoo, which is based on an Alex Grey design.

All of Tanya’s tattoos were inked by artist Sean Boon in the Vibe Studio, Mullingar. You can see the entire series of shots here and read more about the shoot and future shoots here on my blog.

The-Wrong-Side-of-Misery1.gif

Itchy Trigger Finger launch their long-awaited E.P ‘The Wrong Side of Misery’ tonight and this is the center-piece inside. A 180 degree room-span of the lads practicing, made up of over 30 photographs which took me 4 days to create.

The E.P also features my shots on the front and back cover aswell as a collage of over a years work with the band inside. Their new website will also feature 150 of my photogrpahs.
For more details on the E.P, my work with the band and creating this piece, check out my blog.

Coldest Winter Chill

Coldest-winter-chill.jpg

Taken last summer on a night shoot with the National Youth Film School in Jenkinstown woods. Daw standing in front of one of the redhead lights and then I added the lens flare on his face for the circle of light effect.

Creation.jpg

A promotional piece for Itchy Trigger Finger. Took this shot at our first promo shoot together. A spotlight on frontman Jimmy Trigger, I adjusted the levels and darkened the background. Then using the cloning tool in Photoshop,  I took the ITF face logo from Jimmys tattoo on his left arm and placed it on his hands.

In-dreams-shes-with-me.jpg

A concept I’ve had in my head for quite a while. I’d like to do a series of shots like this one. I’ve talked to several makeup artists about working on them with me.

A little adjustment to the levels and some colour modification on this one.

Drop the saturation and lowered the levels for the dark tones.

Poetry in motion

Poetry-in-motion.jpg

I’ve always loved the sequence shots in Skate magazines. This was a first attempt. Taken last summer with local skater Kev Keogh.

Done using the cloning tool in Photoshop. Probably would have been better from a side profile but I intend to do a few more of these.

Consume

Consume.jpg

At least 75% of the planet is covered by water, yet some “genius” came up with the idea of bottling it and making money!?

A little cut and paste job in Photoshop reveals what he thinks about people.

The Goth Scene

Taken during the National Youth Film School 2004. I just used some selective desaturation to highlight the Goth characters.
