Carlow Fire Services remove car wrecks from outside I.T Carlow after a crash scene re-enactment, as part of Road Safety Awareness Week 2008. 366 people died on Irish roads last year, thats the equivalent of 1 in 8 students in I.T Carlow.

One of several car wrecks left lying around the Institute of Technology Carlow, as part of Road Safety Awareness Week 2008. The driver of this car did not survive. Sadly becoming just another statistic of road deaths in Ireland.

As a test run for various upcoming projects, I’ve thrown together a studio to get some practice. The one draw-back being the lack of models. If anybody is interesting in getting some alternative portraits done then please let me know.
You can see more of these test shots here. And you can read more about this shoot and find out about modeling for me here on my blog.
UPDATE: I’m delighted to announce that I’ve made it through to the final for ‘Best Photo Blog’ at the Irish Blog Awards 2008.

Itchy Trigger Finger launch their long-awaited E.P ‘The Wrong Side of Misery’ tonight and this is the center-piece inside. A 180 degree room-span of the lads practicing, made up of over 30 photographs which took me 4 days to create.
The E.P also features my shots on the front and back cover aswell as a collage of over a years work with the band inside. Their new website will also feature 150 of my photogrpahs.
For more details on the E.P, my work with the band and creating this piece, check out my blog.

The return of the Summer Sessions

I got my first chance to properly use my new Nikon D80 last night on Daw’s brand new drumkit as Itchy Trigger Finger begin practicing for their tour. Last year I used a D70 for the first time, for a shoot as Daw recorded drum tracks with the Happy Medium.
With my brand new camera and plenty of gigs, practices and recordings to come over the summer, this shot marks the return of my Summer Sessions.
Her Midnight Garden
7 Comments Published by oss237 October 14th, 2006 in Bands & Musicians, Itchy Trigger Finger, Nature, Promotional Work, Conceptual, Night, SkysThe summer is over and its time for those long cold evenings best spent in by the fire, or in my case out in the dark taking photos.
UPDATE: This photograph was used on the front cover of the Itchy Trigger Finger E.P ‘The Wrong Side of Misery’.

The final shot in my series of pictures taken using KenMc’s Nikon D70 during the the Happy Medium recording of ‘Fairground Attraction’.
Thanks to everyone for all the great feedback and comments on my experiments with a different style, black & white and new framing. I’ll definitely be trying some more stuff like this soon.

Another shot taken with KenMc’s Nikon D70. Took this in the studio (fancy name for a spare room) while the Happy Medium took a break from recording.
Check out the lads myspace profile for a cracker new version of Fairground Attraction.
Comments would again be appreciated on this series of shots.

Another shot taken during the Happy Mediums recording session. Thanks again to Kenmc for the loan of his beautiful Nikon D70 which allowed me to try some new ideas and styles.
A change from my usual style, trying some black and white stuff and some new framing ideas. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Keep an eye on the lads website, www.mediumsite.com , for some new shots and indeed new tracks very soon.

Lots of new “toys” in the house this evening. The arrival of a brand new mixing desk and equipment for KilkennyMusic.com meant the Happy Medium could begin recording this evening giving me a chance to take some pictures of them which will appear on their own site www.mediumsite.com
That, plus a loan of a Nikon D70 off frontman Kenmc meant I could try my hand at some new ideas and styles.
I haven’t done much black and white photography before or even this style but quite enjoyed it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I remember golden sunsets

Things keep going by so fast, the sun seems to be setting on quite a few things in my life at the moment. The end of one thing means the beginning of new things I suppose, but I’ll always remember golden sunsets.
I’m not ready

Sometimes it hard to watch the sun set when you don’t want a day to end.

A concept I’ve had in my head for quite a while. I’d like to do a series of shots like this one. I’ve talked to several makeup artists about working on them with me.
A little adjustment to the levels and some colour modification on this one.
