Vultures Eps 5: Matt McLoughlin and Cynthia

A character portrait sequence taken during the shoot for Vultures episode 5; V.P.I lawyer Matt McLoughlin (Peter McGann) and scarlet lady Cynthia (Mairead Kiernan), shot on the stage in Cleere’s Theatre using two multi-coloured stage lights.

Vultures Episode 5: The Chase Sequence

My first attempt at a proper image sequence and design; comprising of 5 shots taken during the chase scene from Vultures episode 5; The Adventure Of The Hidden Microfilm.

I’m very happy with this for a first attempt and I have a lot of ideas I’d like to try out based on this style. I’d really love to hear feedback on this piece so comments or criticism would be greatly appreciated. The Beauty Queen Of Leenane: Ray Dooley’s Swingball Set

Ray Dooley’s parents gave him a swingball set for Christmas in 1979, he only got two oul months play out it before Maureen Folan confiscated it from him and left it to “fade to fecking skitter” on a window sill for ten years.

A conceptual strobist promo shot taken on the Watergate stage, Ray Dooley’s beloved swingball sits on the Beauty Queen script. I’m actually holding my SB800 flash at the back of the auditorium in the Watergate, triggering the flash and camera by remote. The Beauty Queen Of Leenane – Rehearsals

My script for ‘The Beauty Queen Of Leenane‘ rests on the front row in the Watergate Theatre during rehearsals for the play.

Shot on a 50mm lens with Sb800 positioned on the floor at half power using a wireless trigger to light the chairs in the background. You can read more about rehearsals here on the Oss237.com Blog.

The shot used on the front cover of South’s debut album ‘Insula‘, taken in the Hotshotz Photography Studio in Callan, on a Canon EOS 5D with an EF 24-105mm lens .

A test shoot for the front cover of South’s debut album ‘Insula’; shot in my sitting room using household lamps, screens and off camera flash to key light the lads from South L-R: Alan Dawson, Thomas Donoghue and Ken Farrell.

Another shot from my concept test shoot, working on visuals and music videos for Kilkenny-based progressive grunge experiment The Lions Mane. My first time using a lighting box, surrounded by three construction lights, shooting on my 18-135mm lens (which hasn’t been used in about a year).

Transferring footage for ‘South – The Making Of Insula‘, I’ve finally begun editing, you can read more about it here on the Oss237.com Blog.

Strobist: 50mm lens, I can’t remember the exact settings as I tested several, SB800 at half-power positioned in the corner of the room using the glow from my iMac, Powerbook G4 and a Canon HG10 as back lighting.
